Apolonio Morales offices were built in the sixties. Its glass facade facing south, without any kind of isolation or solar protection, represented a major problem for thermal and visual comfort. Power consumption due to air conditioning was huge, and even then, minimum standards of comfort were not reached and many of the offices were running out tenant. Furthermore, the aesthetical renovation was a must for renting the offices spaces, since the façade had become very obsolete.
The owners of the building together with AGI architects selected a Soltis FT 381 microclimatic façade regarding its advantages in terms of lightness, solar protection, minimizing of secondary structure, aesthetical, short time for installation, etc.
A new BATenso façade system was designed, attached to a galvanised secondary structure which created a 60cm offset double skin. Two different colours of Soltis FT 381 were selected, and installed prestressed in BATenso precast frames. Behind them, the secondary structure included a catwalk for maintenance of former and new façade. Finally, wooden doors which included mailboxes were also fabricated by BAT, to close the ground floor of the new façade and improve aesthetically the access to the offices.
After installation, the building has turned to an eye-catcher in the neighbourhood with very good comments from all the involved parts, users of the offices and neighbours.
