The architects working on projects at the Milan Universal Exposition chose to incorporate nearly 20,000m2 of flexible composite materials. This major event brings together countries throughout the world, charitable organisations and private firms, all interpreting the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.

Materials from Serge Ferrari can be found in 15 structures at the Expo, included in 7 pavilions. It includes various brands of the group in diverse applications.

Pavilions from countries near and far await discovery by visitors, such as China Corporate United, Kuwait, Mexico, Malaysia, France and Germany. Serge Ferrari materials are also part of other public structures: the Children’s Park, the Expo ticketing facilities and the Wine Pavilion.

Here is a closer look at two spectacular achievements: Mexico and Germany’s pavilions.

Materials that meet major challenges

Serge Ferrari composite materials are specified by major international architects because their lightness, low physical density and performance characteristics all contribute to a sustainable approach to construction. These materials combine insulation, translucence, lightness, strength and stability. In particular, Précontraint technology provides them with the best weight/performance ratio and long-term stability, enabling them to be fully in phase with mankind’s natural resources challenge: to do better with less and for longer.
