Aguas Andinas has selected the Serge Ferrari Stam 4739FR composite membrane to replace the covers of two 1,200 m² domes erected over the sewage treatment ponds in the city of Santiago de Chile.
The Serge Ferrari composite membranes effectively meet all the key aims of these installations, namely isolating equipment from rainwater, controlling unpleasant smells and securing the open basins.
This renovation took on a special character relating to the exceptional sunshine in this part of the world with a pronounced Mediterranean climate and especially long, hot summers (temperatures exceeding 28 °C from November to March).
Tensioned over two steel domes mounted on concrete cylinders, Stam 4739FR 2-colour composite membranes ensuring low light transmission were recommended for their multiple qualities:
• Exceptional UV resistance
• Robust, flexible membrane harmoniously cladding the steel dome-shaped structural frame
• High resistance to vapours emitted by various chemical effluents
• Reduced microorganism growth.
Moreover, Serge Ferrari membranes are 100% recyclable through the Texyloop recycling network.
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) demonstrates that using Stam 4739 membrane significantly curtails the environmental impact and falls fully within project coherence and corporate philosophy.
