Précontraint 902 S2
11,000 m² over all 6 stations
Following the success of the first five metro stations roofed with Précontraint Serge Ferrari composite membrane in 2011, the Santiago de Chile metro management inaugurated six new stations* in September 2013. The platforms at these stations were extended by 27 metres and protected by installing 11,000 ² of Précontraint 902 S2 membrane.
The translucence of the Serge Ferrari material prompts efficient natural light diffusion in these new metro stations. Thanks to its lightweight, durable and, above all, modern profiles that integrate perfectly into the city environment, the Serge Ferrari composite material enhances daily the travel quality of more than 450,000 metro passengers. Moreover, the night-time lighting provides a delightful visual escape for metro users and adds an original touch to city life.
It was these multiples advantages, which again convinced the designers and decision-makers to adopt this flexible composite material. Once more, its choice is a resounding success for stakeholders: implementation of the new structural system has enabled the capacity of metro Line 5 to be increased by 6%.
