  • A search for combined comfort, ecological and thermal performance led architects Anthony Bechu and Tom Sheehan to opt for 15,000 m2 of Soltis 99 LowE screen for the Tower D2 blinds mounted inside all the structure’s glazed areas.
To date, this is the largest architectural project to be equipped with this material.

“When choosing the screens we were looking for a coated composite material that combines both thermal and visual comfort, but also lightweight and complying with the Euroclass Bs2d0 fire-classification at the same time. In the end we picked Soltis 99 LowE which impressed us because of all the different features it offers. These include superb reflection of the sun’s rays and translucence, a low g-value and lightweight. And even more it goes perfectly with our design concept because the metallised inside face matches the grey interiors very well. The white outside face on the other hand is restrained and doesn’t mar the façade”, explains Régis Lassausse, project manager of the architectural office.

Low emissivity (LowE) treatment allows the products in the Soltis LowE range to act as thermal barriers. Under the effect of solar radiation, they heat up but re-emit only little of their heat to the building interior. Internal temperature is thus better controlled and user comfort is enhanced. The LowE treatment also allows conditioned air in summer and heated air in winter to be reflected back into the building: a mirror effect.
The efficiency of Soltis LowE materials allows building energy consumption to be curtailed, while preserving perfect outward visibility without dazzle. They provide a sufficiently high degree of translucency to conserve the natural light contribution.
“These 100% recyclable materials integrate perfectly into property development projects of high environmental value, such as Tower D2”, emphasises Séverine Basque, Serge Ferrari Group’s Solar Protection Product Manager.
