  • Designed by Stephen Marshall Architects, the new building for Scape forms part of a wider multi-campus education in East London, close to the hub-bub of the silicon roundabout. This building will operate as a stand-alone educational network, and also work in partnership with other higher education institutions and associated student accommodation.

The 50,000 square feet facility is encompassed by student living blocks, which are up to 11 storeys in height and contain over 500 residential apartments for UK and international students.

Stamisol Color was used on this particular project. Intended to be seen, Stamisol Color is versatile in working with a huge range of other building materials, and provides a contemporary finish for statement projects, often breathing life into less interesting commercial buildings.

Jess Paull, the project architect, says,  “We used the Stamisol Color membrane on a recent project behind areas of perforated aluminium cladding panels.  Because the panels were 50% perforated we needed a membrane that was both waterproof and UV stable.  Also, because the building was over 18m in height, we needed a membrane that had a suitable surface spread of flame rating.  We were unable to find any manufacturer other than Serge Ferrari who made such a membrane.

“There were several discussions with the Serge Ferrari team, who we found to be very helpful and enabled to find the right product for our project.  We have since specified the same Stamisol Color membrane on two other projects, both using variations on the perforated cladding idea.”
